The brick moulding has been removed. Can't say anything good about the craftmanship of the original installation.

This is the east side where the door facing butts up to the garage wall.

There was a top plate scabbed in to connect the top of the door to the soffit. It was nailed with 4-penny nails in 3 places to the top of the door frame.

"Brick moulding" is not available, so I did my own with standard pine. Ready for sanding and then the quarter-round to seal the final gap on the edges.
Was able to save the crown moulding and put it back in place.
